Mosaic Technologies Honored as Local Hero

Eau Claire, Wis. March 13th, 2025—The American Red Cross Northwest Wisconsin Chapter hosted its annual Heroes Breakfast at the Florian Gardens Conference Center in Eau Claire, honoring twelve individuals and businesses who have showed courage, commitment, and community-focus. Among the seven categories, Mosaic Technologies was recognized as the Community Impact Hero for the company’s commitment to providing free smoke detectors and installation.

Since the beginning of Mosaic’s participation in the American Red Cross Sound the Alarm program, 1,985 smoke detectors have been installed throughout the company’s service area. In 2024, 388 smoke alarms were added to homes across the northwestern Wisconsin region. Tammy Emerson, Mosaic Technologies CHRO remarked, “It is an honor to be a part of this rewarding program to support the safety and wellbeing of the communities we serve. We are humbled by the recognition. Without our team’s commitment, we would not be able to reach this milestone and improve the safety within our community.”

The Community Impact Hero Award was presented and received by COO Preston Pearson on behalf of Mosaic Technologies. HomeTech by Mosaic Honors Community Heroes

The American Red Cross hosted the 20th Annual Northwest Wisconsin Heroes Breakfast on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Florian Gardens. On behalf of HomeTech by Mosaic, Chief Human Resources Officer and American Red Cross NW WI chapter board member, Tammy Emerson presented the Good Samaritan Hero Award to five individuals who sprang into life-saving action when one of their Jiu-Jitsu classmates collapsed unconscious. Teammates called 911 and assisted their classmate, Anthony McIntosh who is CPR certified. He performed life-saving measures on classmate Jim Wallin until the paramedics arrived and took over. Jim survived the terrifying incident and has returned to normal activity, including active participation in Jiu-Jitsu training.

The Jiu Jitsu martial arts team was honored with separate Good Samaritan Hero awards presented to Erik Allen, Haydn Owens, Anthony McIntosh, Jesse Reine, and Jesse Rennicke. Owner of the Rice Lake martial arts studio, Jesse Reine has also become CPR certified since the incident and hosts CPR classes at his studio. The facility has acquired an automated external defibrillator (AED) for emergency use.

Anthony McIntosh became CPR certified for his daughter and peace of mind should anything ever happen. He never thought he would have to use his skillset and knowledge on a friend. The team was also nationally recognized for their heroic actions with the Red Cross Lifesaving Award.

Sounding the Alarm to Support the American Red Cross

Since October 2018, Mosaic Technologies has partnered with the American Red Cross by participating in their Sound the Alarm Program and hosting two blood drives throughout the year. Mosaic Technologies has invested in smoke alarm education for its Sales and Service Technicians to become certified smoke detector installers. The company offers three free smoke alarms and installation for every new internet service customer. In five years, Mosaic Technologies has installed over 1,546 customer smoke alarms. Mosaic Technologies Human Resources VP and American Red Cross Board Member, Tammy Emerson stated, “The Sound the Alarm Program is an important part of what we do at Mosaic; offering free alarms and installation at the time of new internet service provides customers peace of mind and can save lives.” Mosaic finished 2023 by installing over 215 smoke alarms for customers. Home fires claim seven lives per day. However, properly installed smoke alarms reduce the risk of death by fifty percent. The company is committed to continuing to provide access to safety and security products to enhance the customer’s overall quality of life.

When Mosaic Technologies opens its training center doors to support an American Red Cross Blood Drive, the company promotes the events on its website, social media pages, and Mosaic’s Live TV Channel 19. According to the American Red Cross, one pint of donated blood could help three people. Every day nearly 5,000 units of platelets and 6,500 units of plasma are needed in the U.S. In 2023, the American Red Cross collected a total of 41 pints from a Mosaic Technologies blood drive event with 123 people saved. The need for blood continues to rise throughout the country and every pint counts towards saving or improving someone’s life. Mosaic Technologies October Blood Drive Saves 78 Lives

Cameron, WI—Mosaic Technologies in partnership with the American Red Cross helped save 78 lives with its blood drive held Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Cameron technology facility. Mosaic's long-time partnership with the American Red Cross has helped collect hundreds of pints of blood over the years.

According to the American Red Cross, one pint of blood can potentially save up to three lives, and the need for blood is great. Every 2 seconds in the U.S., someone needs blood and less than 38% of the population is eligible to give blood or platelets. Twenty-six pints of blood were collected from Mosaic employees and community members last Thursday, making a difference in nearly 80 lives. Mosaic Technologies is grateful to all who made the effort to come out and donate.

"It's no secret that the American Red Cross is as invaluable as ever in our country right now," said Human Resources Director, Tammy Emerson. "Mosaic Technologies is proud to be able to align with the Red Cross to help gather the resources required so they can serve those in need."

The Red Cross provides about 40% of our nation's blood and blood components, all from generous volunteer donors. But supply can't always meet demand because only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly. Each new donor helps us meet patient needs.

Each year, an estimated 6.8 million people in the U.S. donate blood.
13.6 million units of whole blood and red blood cells are collected in the U.S. in a year.
About 45% of people in the U.S. have Group O (positive or negative) blood; the proportion is higher among Hispanics (57%) and African Americans (51%).
Type O negative red cells can be given to patients of all blood types. Because only 7% of people in the U.S. are type O negative, it's always in great demand and often in short supply.

Type AB positive plasma can be transfused to patients of all blood types. Since only 3% of people in the U.S. have AB positive blood, this plasma is usually in short supply.
Red blood cells must be used within 42 days (or less).
Platelets must be used within just 5 days.

Mosaic Technologies will next host a blood drive at its Cameron facility on July 27, 2021.
